Nexpense ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Nexpense mobile application.
Information We Collect
- Account information: Your name and email address when you sign up.
- Expense data: The expenses and trips you create within the app. This data is encrypted and stored securely in our database.
- Photos: Receipt images you choose to scan. Images are sent to our server solely for AI processing and are not stored permanently.
- Voice input: Audio captured when you use voice expense entry. Audio is processed on-device by Apple's Speech Recognition and is not stored by us.
- Usage data: Anonymous, aggregated analytics (via PostHog) to understand how features are used. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Nexpense service
- To authenticate your account securely via Firebase Authentication
- To process receipt images using AI (Google Gemini)
- To sync your expense data across your devices
- To respond to your support requests
Data Storage and Security
Your expense data is encrypted end-to-end using AES-GCM encryption. Encryption keys are generated on your device and stored in the iOS Keychain — they are never transmitted to our servers. Only you can decrypt your financial data.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Nexpense:
- Firebase Authentication — Authentication and account management (firebase.google.com)
- Google Firestore — Secure cloud database (firebase.google.com)
- Firebase Crashlytics — Error tracking and crash reporting (firebase.google.com)
- Firebase Analytics — Anonymous product analytics (firebase.google.com)
- Google Gemini — AI-powered expense parsing and receipt scanning (ai.google.dev)
Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share information with these services as necessary to provide Nexpense's features.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Trip expense data is only shared with the trip members you explicitly invite.
Your Rights and Choices
- Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
- Export your data: You can export all your expense data as a spreadsheet from within the app at any time.
- Permissions: You can revoke camera, microphone, contacts, or photo library access at any time in your iPhone's Settings app.
Children
Nexpense is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it removed.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
